TZ WOHD-26 ACTIVITIES

This year, the Tanzania Dental Association participated in the global commemoration of World Oral Health Day (WOHD 2026). The event was be preceded by a week-long series of activities which included:-

1. Provide oral health education to the general public, aiming at raising awareness in the community at large
2. Free dental checkups to different communities, such as prisons, schools, and centers for people with special health care needs.
3. Oral health promotion to parents attending the Reproductive and Child Health clinic throughout the country,
4. School visits -  School children received toothpaste and toothbrushes, screen, tooth brushing demonstration and oral health education
5. Social Media Campaign - included  WhatsApp posts,  Tik Tok, Facebook , Instagram , X.com were used to sensitize the communities throughout.
6. Walk-  Awareness walk during commemoration to sensitize the community and enhance engagements.
7. Press -  TV and Radio sessions were held to address oral health issues in Tanzania during the commemoration.
8. A lecture & Webnar series were conducted to professional as part of the continued professional development education during oral health week.
9. Surgical camps to address cases that required major surgeries 
10.  Meetings with Government officials to address different oral issues was conducted.
