NOHP Puducherry - WOHD CELEBRATION Walkathon

On the occasion of World Oral Health Day on March 20, an oral health awareness walkathon was conducted on March 19 under the National Oral Health Programme with the theme “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Life.” The walkathon commenced from the Gandhi statue at Puducherry Beach and was flagged off at 8am by the Director of Health Services, Dr. Sevvel.
Officials from various programs, including the National Tobacco Control Programme, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, National Programme for Control of Blindness, and National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases, participated in the event.
Students from Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences, JIPMER Medical College, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Sri Venkateswara Dental College, Pondicherry University Community College, Mother Theresa Postgraduate and Research Institute, Rashtriya Raksha University, Sathya Special School, Sanvi School, and Hope Foundation actively took part in the walkathon ,carrying awareness placards and spreading messages about oral health among the public.
Volunteers from organizations such as Care Max Foundation, Indian Women’s Network, Ladies Circle of India, and the Indian Dental Association also participated.
An oral health pledge was taken by all participants, and pamphlets were distributed to the public. The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. Kavipriya, State Nodal Officer,National Oral Health Programme. More than 250 participants took part in the walkathon, successfully creating awareness about oral health among the public.
