NOHP puducherry - an account of World Oral Health Day, A signature campaign has been initiated with a pledge towards the theme ' A happy mouth is a happy life'

community level awareness at Ayushman Arogaya Mandir ( UPHC) Pandakkal on 5th FEB 2026 by Dr Satish as part of World Oral Health Day events with the the theme “ Good oral heslth leads to happy life”Session covered on Oral health , tobacco awareness and role of diet ( free sugars & free fatty acids) in general & oral health. In oral health - its significance, relation to other health, value / worth of oral cavity components, importance of oral health througout life , preventive aspects and briefly on treatment modalities, emphasing on 6 month dental check up for catching abnormalities at early stage.
In tobacco awareness- covered on its harmful effects not only to user but also to people arround him/ her . A few words on WHO observations. , COTPA Act and TOFEI guidelines. Also touched on other harmful habit or arecna nut on oral cavity.
In diet - role of free sugars and fatty acids in general health and oral health. Food loses its nutritional value when it is refined and it becomes harmful to health
Ninteen people from all walks of life attended the session at PANDAKAL (11 female and 8 male.).
