An Iftar Program with children from Rumah Kebajikan Rumah Walid dan Ummi was successfully held on 14 March 2026 at Dewan Akasia, organized by the Paediatric Dentistry Department, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin Hospital, Kajang, Selangor.
The event featured a variety of engaging activities, including a dental quiz, a creative clay modeling session with a “Raya Dental” theme, and interactive learning on the importance of maintaining good oral and dental hygiene. Held during the month of Ramadan, the program adopted a fun and creative approach to instill positive oral health habits among children.
The program received full support from the hospital committee as well as paediatric dentistry colleagues from across Selangor. This initiative was also part of the FDI World Oral Health Celebration, aimed at promoting greater awareness of oral health, especially among children.
While oral health celebrations are often centred around dental screenings, this year we took a different approach. As the occasion fell within the holy month of Ramadan, we felt that organizing an Iftar (breaking of fast) event would be a more meaningful and creative way to engage with the children.
By combining oral health education with interactive and enjoyable activities in a warm, communal setting, we were able to promote good dental habits in a way that was both memorable and appropriate for the season.
