NOHP Puducherry - Dental Orientation and Screening Program at Rashtriya Raksha University, Puducherry

A comprehensive dental orientation, awareness, and screening camp was conducted for the students of Rashtriya Raksha University with the objective of promoting oral health, early diagnosis, and preventive dental care. The program began with an orientation session that highlighted the importance of oral health as an integral part of overall well-being. Students were educated on common dental problems such as dental caries, periodontal diseases, malocclusion, and oral cancer, with special emphasis on risk factors, early warning signs, and preventive measures.
The awareness session also focused on proper oral hygiene practices, including correct brushing techniques, the importance of regular dental check-ups, healthy dietary habits, and the harmful effects of tobacco and related products. The session was interactive, encouraging students to clarify doubts and actively participate in discussions related to maintaining good oral health.
Following the orientation and awareness program, an oral health screening was carried out for the students. Each participant underwent a basic dental examination to assess their oral health status. Students requiring further evaluation or treatment were advised accordingly and guided for timely referral and follow-up care. The camp successfully sensitized the students to the importance of oral health, reinforced preventive practices, and contributed to the early identification of dental issues, thereby supporting the overall health and readiness of the 350  students at Rashtriya Raksha University.
