
As the world unites to emphasize the importance of oral health and celebrate world oral health day. Dental Students’ Society, Nepal(DSSN) has recognized the need of oral health promotion and oral health care in the underprivileged and underserved communities.
In aligning with norms of world oral health day and supporting strategic objectives and action plan 2023-2030 drafted by World Health Organization, we are organizing a month long “Oral Health for all: A community outreach series” which aims to provide oral health education, oral disease screening and basic preventive services to all the categories of population that includes:
- Especially Abled Population
- Underprivileged communities
- Women
- Children/ Orphans
- Elderly/Old Age Home Residents
- Homeless people
As a part of this series, we conducted a community outreach program at Sinamangal Slum Area. There were all together 186 beneficiaries in the program. The program happened at Shree Guheswori Secondary School where following services were provided.
- Oral Screening to all the participants
- Tooth Paste and Toothbrush distribution to all the participants
- Fluoride application to 30 children
- All the children were engaged in Kids activity sheet
- Theme promotion by Happy Mouth Frame
- Oral Health Education to all the participants
