
The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH CVCHD) will celebrate WOHD through a collaborative initiative in Asturias, Cebu - a community without a public health dentist where access to oral healthcare is a challenge. The activity will include oral health education, toothbrushing drill, oral health assessment, fluoride varnish application and distribution of oral health kits to daycare learners. This multi-stakeholder effort highlights the importance of addressing oral health disparities in underserved communities, fostering partnerships, and empowering individuals to take charge of their oral health.
Objectives:
At the end of the activity, the participants will be able to:
a. Gain knowledge on the importance of oral health,
b. Demonstrate the proper tooth brushing technique through a guided toothbrushing drill,
c. Receive individual oral health assessment results, including identification of oral health issues such as Early Childhood Caries (ECC),
d. Receive fluoride varnish from a dental practitioner; and e. Utilize the distributed oral health kits to sustain good oral health habits at home.

Stakeholder Participation
a. DOH CVCHD dentists – act as facilitators and resource speakers,
b. Philippine Dental Association dentists – assigned for the oral health assessment and fluoride varnish application
c. Dental students – act as support staff for the dentists,
d. Asturias RHU personnel – act as support staff; and
e. Daycare learners, parents and teachers – act as participants during the activity.
